'I Don't Network!'

Business to business networking events like those we organise have never been so popular or structured than they are today. Yet only a very small percentage of businesses see 'networking' as a crucial part of their marketing strategy to gain new business.

Of those that utilise business networking to promote their business a large percentage fall into the Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) bracket. Why is this? Well, for a Government that promotes helping SME's, SME's find themselves severely restricted by the Telephone Preference Service and the outlawing of unsolicited emails.

The answer, networking!! Yet many business people still say 'I don't do that networking thing.' Yet they already do in everyday life, however, have just not applied it to business. How many times have you recommended a good book, film or restaurant to a friend or associate? Then you have networked!!!

Networking is just another term for 'word of mouth.' Does your business receive business through word of mouth, if so, you have networked but just not in a structured environment that is more conducive to networking. There are many networking groups out there so go and take a look, starting with our website!

And for those that do network, Happy Networking!

Scam Warning

A loophole in the system for registering company details with Companies House is allowing scammers to hijack organisations identities to fraudulently obtain goods/services.

What Does Your Website Do For You?

How much money are you wasting and how many opportunities are you missing with your website?

Virtuaffinity Ltd have recently delivered some consultancy work for the Manchester Digital Development Agency and Manchester Business Consortium. Virtuaffinity have been asked to talk to small business in and around Greater Manchester with a view to helping them use the web to the advantage of their business.

Many companies, of all sizes, do not manage or market their website in any way whatsoever. Far too often, no one actually owns the responsibility of keeping the website up to date; no one reports on what the website is doing for the business. All too frequently, no one actually knows why they have got a website other than they think that they should have one. If you spent a few grand on an advert in a magazine, wouldn't you want to know what the return was on your investment? Why should your website be any different?
